After five days of bridge, sea air and fantastic food, the Victor Ludorum chart for the duplicate events made for interesting reading. Not one pair managed a podium finish in more than one event, showing how evenly matched the sixteen pairs were this year. Retaining their title from 2016, it was Liz Stevens and Helen Beattie - by a whisker - who maintained greatest consistency over the various sessions.
As well as carefully constructed set hands, the random deals contained a 0-10-3-0 distribution, as well as a 8-4-1-0 hand and a 6-6-0-1 hand, so there were high-level bridge decisions galore.
Highest scoring pair of the week were Christine and Tony Harris who, with a fine 62% on the final day, raced into third position overall, just behind Joan Halpern and Michael Collins in the runners-up spot.
