Like Leicester City FC winning the premier League in 2016, there was a surprising - but universally popular - win for Mark and Mary Hopkins at the Tresanton Bridge Week this year. Triumphing over three duplicate sessions, they took the coveted Victor Ludorum prize.
Over five days of intense bridge, hundreds of set hands, bidding problems and friendly but hard fought competition, resulted in 32 exhausted, but happy guests driving, railing or flying home to recover this weekend.
Hotel Tresanton remains one of the Britain's finest hotels, and we all enjoyed outstanding food, service and comfort, even if the staff at times seemed a little bemused by our obsession with 52 cards.
Booking is open for 2019 and, I'm told, 2020 also.
