Poker - where to play
Live card rooms and major casinos remain the safest places to play, but beware - there can be collusion between regular players when a new face appears. Stick to tournaments to begin with, ask about players, and whether the players themselves are happy with the game.
Online poker
Despite much debate in the press, in the opinion of the many winning experts on the web, online Poker remains safe. The looseness of many weak players' style often leads to situations (which would not normally exist) where a bad beat can occur. Bear in mind that the more bad beats you suffer, the more often you've had your money in the pot at the RIGHT time.
