Paul Mendelson's friendly, patient, interactive style has earned him many plaudits from students and experts alike. Always accessible, witty and enthusing, his classes have helped many to learn from scratch, improve beyond recognition, and even to enter local and national competitions with considerable success.
Based at The Roehampton Club in South West London, Paul offers a full range of classes and coaching for students and players of all abilities. Members of Roehampton Club, their friends and students known to Paul are all elible to join. All classes are friendly and confidence boosting.

Paul and his experienced colleagues are also available in various other venues and for private tuition. During the course of the autumn, winter and spring, there are also special events and friendly competitions

All classes offer full notes which build into an important reference for all students.

Fees: All classes are £12 per lesson for members of The Roehampton Club and £16 per class for non-members. Most classes operate on a pay-on-the-day system, but some may require a half-term sign-up.

Classes

Absolute Beginners
Tuesday Mornings 10.15-12.15pm

Paul, assisted by Sue Strong, commences a brand new beginners class. Assuming no knowledge of the game, all the key elements will be introduced in Paul's unique interactive style, where you get your hands on the cards from the off! Full notes and example hands compliment the easy-to-understand style of teaching, making learning the world's most stimulating mind-sport an absolute pleasure.

Higher Intermediate
Tuesday Evenings 7.30 - 9.30pm

This term features bidding, and in particular game and slam bidding. Earn the satisfaction of landing that Grand Slam, or pre-empting your opponents out of their stone-cold game contract.
This is a large social class: bring in your drinks from the bar and prepare to enjoy some fun bridge with first rate tuition!

Higher Intermediate
Wednesday Mornings 10.30 - 12.30pm

For those wanting to play successful social bridge and to break into club bridge with some duplicate play, these Higher Intermediate classes offer the opportunity this term of improving your declarer play, including some key expert plays, and your defensive technique. Add to this, slam bidding and high-level competitive bidding and your game will be transformed. Illustrated with bidding challenges and set hands, these classes will ensure that you can hold your own in any arena of play.

Advanced
Thursday Mornings 10.15 - 12.15pm

A class for more experienced club and social players. This term will focus on high-level competitive bidding, slam bidding and sacrifices.

DUPLICATE PAIRS strategy will also be discussed and studied, with a closer look at scoring and the significance for your auctions, play and defence. There will also be two special duplicate practice sessions scheduled for Thursday afternoons following the class as well as evening sessions of practice so that you have the confidence to join in the Roehampton Club duplicates on Monday afternoons and Wednesday evenings - two of the best run sessions in London.

DUPLICATE TACTICS SESSIONS - an introduction to duplicate bridge, the scoring, and the key tactics to succeed. Hands, etiquette, tactics, and key tips for success.

Friday Morning Club Class
Friday 10am - 12.45pm

Now a London institution, Elizabeth Hallifax and Paul Mendelson offer a relaxing, witty and instructive session of supervised play, set hands, bidding challenges and lessons - for players from Intermediate to Higher Intermediate level at The Roehampton Club. Join us weekly, once a month, twice a year - whenever you like - partners and tables found and a warm welcome guaranteed.
